Painting by Maureen TaylorOctober 20th-31st Private view 18th October 6-9pmThe Lock Gallery is proud to host painting by local artist and writer, Maureen Taylor. "I was born in Birmingham, later moving to Coventry, where I married and had my son, Mark and my daughter Toni, an artist in her own right living in the USA. Life took it's twists and turns, so now I live in Wellesbourne, near stratford Upon Avon with Kelly the cat, lots of paintings and bookshelves overflowing. Drawing has always been a part of my life and I took the opportunity in 2008 to concentrate on my painting and writing. I wrote my book, 13 Tales From The Pen Of Maureen Taylor in 2008, a short story collection of strange tales to inspire the imagination. My decision was taken on adivce of my dad, John Taylor, a Coventry pharmacist, who said I should take the time to follow my dreams, as he wished that he had. I thought that good advice, as so many people immerse themselves in their daily lives and lie forgotten. I work from intuition. There is an image in every canvas, which may come at the first covering or the fifth, it is there and all I have to do is release it. I love texture, depth and colour and all sorts of sparkly stuff, which I integrate into my work with no appologies. Time takes on another dimension when I am writingor painting, so as the light fades I have no idea how the time has flown. Sometimes, the art has to wait if there is a story rattling around in my mind, which just has to be written and thats how it is. Everything always works out, so have faith in yourself and follow those dreams.......... I love my life and my paintings and I hope you do too." Maureen Taylor. |
